Us Americans want to set examples for other nations, we’ve not always done so very well. We’re haven’t been perfect, and we’re not perfect today. But I honestly believe the United States are the home of the free, and the brave. We may have racism, me may always have racism, because American, Japanese, Israeli, German, we’re all human, and we’re incredibly imperfect. I’m not all knowing, and there are many things I don’t understand, or am even aware of, however, I absolutely trust that there are more people trying to do the “right” thing, in America. Our system isn’t perfect, and not fair to everyone at all times, but it’s good enough that if enough people care about something, they can achieve anything.
Myself, I don’t believe I’m racist. My parents, I can’t say for sure if they have ever been prejudice towards anyone, but in the Korean war my grandfather was nearly killed by a grenade, an African American comrade of his dove on the grenade saving his life, and instantly ending his own, as I was told, it was like something out of a book or movie, the way he did it, how bravely and without hesitation. Racism was never tolerated in their household, or my parents, I’m not sure if that’s why, the war incodent, but I’ve had many friends, having lived in many american cities, and in germany, and I have liked everyone, and every culture.

Race is an arbitrary social construction. If you operate under the premise that race is real, you are a racist. The acknowledgment of race as fact is enough discrimination to warrant the title of racist. Disagree if you must, but there is nothing biological about race. In that sense one could be racist against a country. After all, our most preliminary discussions of race stem from a pre-globalized world view in which geographic borders are sufficient. You know what I mean if you’ve ever heard any jokes about Polish people.

Racism does thrive, but it comes from both sides. I know a few extremely intelligent black people who expressed sentiments of being stressed and feeling alienated because their own friends and families would ridicule them for acting “Too White”. Does “Too white” mean “too intelligent”?

I don’t find this photograph offensive. I find racism to be offensive. It is an overlooked fact that the lower-quality living conditions in which the “colored” people in that day lived would rend them to be carriers of worse disease while the “whites” were cleaner and would not tolerate sharing the same living quarters and comfort equipment. Is this not the same as quarantine? C’mon people. Strike racism, just don’t be scientifically inconclusive. I know a clean black man is good and holy, but a dirty one is no different than a dirty white man. Back then, there were diseases that were only contained by segregation. Even the Holy Bible is acknowledged that if someone is with an infirmity that he is to say to all others approaching him “unclean” as quickly as possible. Looking to how Police Officers behave, they are the most racist creatures I’ve ever seen; one moment they are tackling a man with full body contact, then when they take him to the jailhouse they use gloves like he could be contagous with a disease. Those are the dirty and racist that are unclean.

We have advanced medicine, agriculture, and technology, and provided a model of the most powerful economy ever known to humanity. It’s true that compared to France and other European nations we are lacking culturally but over all we are a kind and generous nation that has dealt more honestly with racial and equality issues than many, many, other nations - ESPECIALLY most of the developing world of whom many people of color fight to escape from in order to come to the U.S.
