In one of the most famous photographs of the 20th Century, Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin walks on the surface of the moon near the leg of the lunar module Eagle. Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong took this photograph with a 70mm lunar surface camera. Armstrong and Aldrin explored the Sea of Tranquility for two and a half hours while crewmate Michael Collins orbited above in the command module Columbia.
As the world remembers the thrilling Apollo 11 mission 35 years later, NASA’s newVision calls for a return to the moon, followed by journeys of discovery to Mars and beyond.

If you took just a little bit of time to research you would know that the reflective quality of the moon surface produces what amounts to multiple light sources, thus shadows going in different directions.

If you think this is fake, check out Mythbusters. They took on several moon landing myths and disproved the “logic” behind the myth. It does not prove the picture id real, but it does refute the myth.

Wow half the comments on these pictures are people making fun of Americans. How about this? Americans made it to the moon, and took this picture. That’s it. The idea is so unbelievable that you people have to think of conspiracies so you can feel good about yourself. The LHC is more unbelievable than this, yet you think it’s real because it’s on our planet. I guess all of those fancy rockets and thousands of satellites floating above your heads aren’t enough proof to show that going to that shiny disc 3 days away is possible.

This is truly one of the greatest images that has changed the world. Some people beleive it is fake. But the way I see it the curved mirror surface on the helmet shows the shaddows as they would have been. The main problem of calling it a fake is the logistics of faking it and the cost of faking it would, in those days, be similar to actually completing the mission.

To anyone who doubts the validity of the moon landings, I have one question.
Have you ever worked for a government agency?
To keep the mouths of tens-of-thousands of underpaid, government employees silent or their eyes oblivious to the fact they were building a spacecraft as some sort of elaborate hoax, would have proved a mightier task than actually having to put men on the moon in a decades timeframe.
