Read “Death of a Revolutionary” it’s a good book until the very end. In the end everybody knows what happened to Che in Bolivia, and the author goes a little conspiracy theory on you, but overall, good read. It’s basically the only country with any grudge against Cuba (as proven by the everlasting embargo on their trade) which has probably caused more poverty there than the Communist regime. In America, Che is seen as a villain from long ago, elsewhere however he is a symbol of freedom and the socialist revolution.

First of all, he wasn’t a communist, he was a socially-minded (read: cares for people) doctor concerned with the challenges facing our modern world.
Secondly, he did take to arms in struggle in overcoming what he believed to be the root of all evil, and almost certainly did take lives in the process, he also healed a lot of people; his violence was not directed aimlessly but rather, specifically at what he saw as the enemy.
Thirdly how many people did he kill? How many did he cure? He was hardly a ‘ruthless dictator’ and there is a lot of bullshit flying around about him, but the truth is a matter of perspective: he was assassinated, there were no WMOD in iraq, there was prior government knowledge of nine eleven, he did have sexual relations with that woman, and Nixon was a crook.
Believe what you will, but bankers will continue to say money is good, che is bad, governments that disliked him will continue to paint him as a terror and not a doctor who was unable to obtain a fair political avenue (read: non-corrupt) to address a specific set of problems, which he thought were possible and worth his lifetime’s efforts.

Consider this. Mao Zedong stated that political power comes from the barrel of a gun. No one can disagree with this statement. Whether It is the united states, Britain, Russia, China, whatever, they all kill people. The question one should ask about political leaders is not “do these people kill people?” but “why do these people kill people?” because they all do. To those who say how can we hold che in high regard, I ask, why do we hold George Washington in high regard? He killed loyalists and british and his orders led to the deaths of americans and british alike. Why do we hold abraham lincoln in High regard? his actions lead to the most deaths of Americans in any single war in History. FDR? The firebombings of Dresden, Tokyo, Berlin and the Atomic bombs which exploded of Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed as many civilians as did the entire holocaust in germany. The question is not DID? because they all did. It’s why? All of the aforementioned are american heros, because they stood for american ideals, and that’s why they killed people, if not directly, you’re kidding yourself if you doubt they’re responsibility to their actions. They’re as responsible for their actions as hitler was for his, or Stalin or Pol Pot. To regard someone who kills as not worthy of high regard is liberalist elite naivete- because the fact is, by participating in the global market and global economy, you are contributing to toxic pollution, child labor, and often brutal political repression and murder. If you drink coke, part of your money may go to murder Union leaders In south American Bottling factories, as they have done in the past. If you drive a car, you are paying Saudis, most likely( or another OPEC nation), who beat women, sometimes killing them because they’ve been raped, for “honor” and the money give them goes to fund Islamic extremist training, and those extremists kill American soldiers, secular Arabs, Jews, etc. In essence we are all responsible for death in some way or another. Death is natural. Killing, too, is Natural. Che Guevara Killed people, yes. He murdered many and undoubtedly his actions lead to the deaths of dozens more, but everyone’s actions do, he was just involved more directly. and that brings us to why? He killed because he saw the sick, the impoverished, the working people who could barely afford to live, the exploitation of natural resources that was not aiding the local peoples, and then he saw the corrupt politicians, the Dictators- like Batista, the wealthy business and land owners who lived like kings while those who owned nothing where driven further into despair, and the bourgeoisie who silently acquiesced to this non egalitarian, unfair system. He killed to change that, to make a better system, a better life for people, a system where the goal wasn’t gaining more capital but mutually aiding people. You may disagree with how it’s implemented in Cuba, and in many other so-called communist Nations, I know I do. But just because people have made mistakes in the implementation does it make the basic notions expressed by that dreams any less worthy? Perhaps you Hate Che and his ideas because you like suffering or inequality, or you are racist or something, I can’t reach you. But if you just think he’s bad for killing, keep in mind all governments, all political leaders, and Large corporations are involved with murder. If Che and Fidel had decided to go the Gandhi or MLK route in Cuba they would have been killed, plain and simple. Not every place is as great a place to live as the U.S., you know, and we’re such a great place to live partly because we make other places horrible places to live. It’s sad and it’s true and we are a all a party to it by participating in the system, so don’t judge others when you have no ******* clue where they are coming from.

Guevara was a criminal and died in an appropriate manner. He murdered hundreds, if not thousands, of people in his quest for power. Guevara was loyal only to Guevara. Even Castro sent him away from Cuba because he feared Guevara would try to usurp the dictatorship. Anybody that believes Guevara is anything more than a common low-class murderer is a blooming idiot.

Can I suggest Humberto Fontova’s recent book? It’s well researched and you will find his documentation to be credible and appropriately applied. If you’re in need of a hero, look elsewhere. When you see how much this picture is commercialized you think that the guy that took it must have a fortune, but the thing is that he hasn’t seen a dime from it. The laws in Cuba don’t allow private property so he couldn’t copyright it. Some Italian dude reprinted in made a fortune from it.
And btw Che Guevara is a symbol for freedom, and a revolution. If he was a dictator as you here say he was he could have stayed in Cuba and be where Castro is today, but he was determined to free South America from the imperialistic chains and went to Bolivia where he was killed by the CIA. He was a man with a strong vision and determination.
